This may not be the way you would want to do it, but you can take a smaller drill bit then the blue head and drill the screw out taking the head off.

What is the original hard drive? 5400 rpms or 7200 rpms? It'd probably be best to upgrade to the same speed?

so people down load games and pic . movies .etc. also the new game r going to be much large so its a good idea to upgrade .but it still a good idea to have an extra external hard drive to have everything backed up encase your drive gives up

Be careful though. Only SOME HDD works, do a few background checks on them. I suggest the WD Scorpio 320GB. It works and it's very affordable ($70 ain't too bad)

no it must be formatted FAT32. The ps3 has a format utility to do so. Hope this helps you. :)

here is the complete data of upgrading HDD
Requirements:
it must be SATA-150
it must be 8mb Cache (very important)
it must be 2.5 inches
it must be 5400rpm
Limitations:
20GB model limited to 40GB
40GB model limited to 80GB
60GB model limited to 120GB
80GB model limited to 160GB
NOTE: If you exceed the limitations your PS3 will overheat and will cause too much noise and it will cause damage

Bollocks. I've had a 320GB 7200rpm hard drive installed for almost 6 months with no heat, vibration, or noise issues at all. Virtually all of my mates who own ps3's have also upgraded to bigger hard drives as well without any issues. Where in the any of Sony's official documentation for the ps3 did you got your info, or misinformation, from? Stop spreading childish and unsubstantiated rumours.
