Video Description: Marriage Fraud is a delicate yet serious issue here in Canada. Unscrupulous immigrants short-cutting their way through the Canadian immigration system and obtaining permanent resident status by being brought over by their spouse, only to leave them shortly after. This indeed raises problems with Canada as a nation, but what about the victims? In addition to losing what they though was love, they must pay the government for all welfare and other benefits paid to the deserting spouse for the next 3 to 10 years!
With this video, we hope to explore Marriage Fraud through the eyes of the victim. Discover and raise awareness on what is wrong with the immigration system, and what is being done, or can be done to prevent it.

shaliz20, you're thinking about abusive situations, and it can happen sometimes. In fraudulent cases, it is unlikely, as everything is pre-planned...I appreciate the values and beauty of a housewife, but I would never use 'slave' to describe my wife. Housewife duties are not easy, since there is a lot of multi-tasking, and extra work. u can find balance between work, personal & social life..God created men and women for a good reason. In this age of stupidity, nothing makes any sense.

There needs to be an 'International Divorce Law' regarding marriage for foreign nationals.
This type of scam needs to be regarded as a form of entrapment.
Governments throughout the world are ignoring an ever growing popular way of stealing money of innocent people.

People, please stop committing fraudulent marriage. USCI, pls interview couples separately and ask more evidences of real marriages then you will catch fraud marriage much more effectively. Less fraudulent marriage applicants will save us trouble.

Why is it called marriage fraud when immigrants and non-immigrants marry ? Marriage is always fraud. Women live in comfort while men have to pay for everything. When it finally ends with divorce a husband is always separated from his kids, and in many cases he won´t see them again, for years, at least in Germany.

I divorced my exploitative Thai wife called Phikunthong also known as Som or Sompreaw. She married me to get a British Passport and tried to rob me through divorce. Lucky I found out as she told so many lies about everything. She had to pay so much in legal fees because of her greed that she ended up with little from the divorce. She can only live in the UK by being a student. She is an 'over stayer' living in South Wales UK. These women are the root cause for complex immigration laws.

TY, I know someone who went to the interview and told the interviewer she was married before to a illegal immigrant. I have sponsored my wife to immigrate to Canada and soon after she landed, she abandoned me. I contacted Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and I have been told by the representative on the phone that "We are sorry that she has used you to come to Canada; there is nothing that can be done as she has already landed in Canada; she is recognized as a legal immigrant and you have to support her for three years although you might have been abused."

People abuse the system and use marriage fraud to get people's green card. Ordinary people, terrorists, scam, and even RELIGIOUS/ SPRITUAL groups used marriage fraud to bring people into USA. I.E. I don't blame people who try to get green cards through fake marriages in the US, since it's pretty much the only way to stay here nowadays. Try to get a H1-B visa (work visa), even with all the degrees you have, they make it impossible for you. Try to apply for a green card, it costs a fortune, and you are not even sure you will ever get it. So fuck it, if they want to come in and stay using other means, so be it. Better fake marriages than illegal immigrants.
