I can't understand.. that sounds a contradiction to me.
Strict speed controls on the roads, strict controls on alcohol, but everybody can hold a gun.
People are considered not enough wise to have to be checked when driving a car and when drinking, but they are enough to use a rifle as they like.
If everybody is allowed to have guns, everybody would like to have one, to not feel less safe than others: that leads to relationships based on violence.

US is probably the biggest economic power in the world. But it wouldn't be so bad some times look at what other countries do, outside the american borders.
USA is quite a recent country, not having all the history (including wars, culture, arts), experience and traditions that other countries do.
Sometimes a comparison with the outside would be worth.

I so sick of the media basically "glorifying" these fuckheads that shoot places up. This mall shooter wanted to be famous and that's what he got, thanks to the media. I'm not saying that they shouldn't cover these types of stories, but they need to stop focusing the most attention on the perpetrator, and need to focus more on the victims and their families. When this happened, everytime I turned on the news, all I saw was his ugly, zit covered face on the screen. It's rediculous

There's enough guns in our country to stop things like this. Just not enough of them in places where they're actually needed. We don't allow guns in malls and whatnot but in reality, that's what makes them so vulnerable. Would he have went and shot up a pawn shop or a gun and knife show? I think not. One trained person with a carry permit could drop someone attempting to do murder innocent people, but all people can talk about is guns themselves like they're some disease.
