wrong. actually thats probably exactly what was going through townswends mind. he may think antonius might think 77-TT is good , but would turn the hand into a bluff to "cover his bases"

Antonius is a classy player. Whether he wins big or loses big. Just like on high stakes when Jamie Gold won 2/3 runs of the river with a set of K's vs antonius' nut straight

have u watched the whole episode the whole show even or just with watching this 8 min video u can conclude that calling with pair of q
is not good enough?
those 2 are very agressive players who use
constant pressure
i'm not saying it ok to call in this situation but who are u to question the man's logic
its his money who btw earned it by playing poker vs other people probably in the same way
i would not blame a ... ( 3 weeks ago by Siddhartha2)
i would not blame a player forcalling with the middlepair.i won a few pots with the bottom pair,ace and kinghigh calls.
butin this particular spot:only his Riverplay was very badly.he should checkbehind,because the 4 was a scarecard and he wouldbe rarely calledby a weaker hand(like qt*,which is in pats callingrange)but he would getcalled or raised from many betterhands.
and if he had analized pats betting plattern, he would also know,that P.A.would have lead out with that*&he wouldnt bluff@River
u guys have no idea ... ( 3 weeks ago by AntmanB69)
u guys have no idea what level these guys are at. Townsend was obv valuebetting thinly putting antonius on exactly 77-jj. Once he bet the river and antonius raised he convinced himself that antonius knew that he was value betting thinly and tunring 77-jj into a bluff. Long story short...townsend leveled himself .
siddhatha u really ... ( 2 weeks ago by pokerchobo)
siddhatha u really think the 4 on the river is a scarecard for townsend? u think antonius called twice full pot size out of position with 78?
and lead out with what and where? u cant say that at all because the mix it up even though theses players have their very own history its stupid to talk about what the did wrong or not
i also heared from ... ( 2 weeks ago by pokerchobo)
i also heared from a friend that townsend said that in a interview just what u have written, good comment so.
@pokerchobo : no ... ( 2 weeks ago by Siddhartha2)
@pokerchobo : no offence, but it seems to be that you haven´t seen a lot of hands from patrick a. or you capacity for remembering isnt soo good. he had called potsizebets with weaker hands then an oesd (even if he was oop).
and he usally leads out his marginal/good hand at the flop. and in relation to his common bettingplattern, its unlikely that he had a hand like this.
@siddhartha2: no ... ( 2 weeks ago by pokerchobo)
@siddhartha2: no offence, but it seems to be that u re playing nl10. these guys have their own history and u cant tell what patrick would lead out their and what not. thats an insult!!
@pokerchobo : you ... ( 2 weeks ago by Siddhartha2)
@pokerchobo : you are right, i am not a highstakes pro. and i play only nl500 & nl1k. but i have seen many hands from antonius. and he bets usally bets in a headsup situation his marginal/good oop hands (except he has a monster, like top two... @relativ dry board)) if you dont beliefe me, take a look @highstakes poker, poker after dark... and make some notice when patrick bets with what under which circumstances. and you will see that i am right.
first of all to ... ( 2 weeks ago by Airik246)
first of all to suggest P.A wud do a certain play in a certain situation is totally undermining him he is capable of any play at any time that y he is so successful. agreed that townsends value bet was questionable. previous hands and table image would come into play on the value bet,
maybe townsend just bluffed atonius out of a small pot a few hands before this. but the chk raise call was a huge call so few hands he could beat obv but im sure he has made crazy calls before that were right.
The rake in that ... ( 1 week ago by GaeasBlessing)
The rake in that game is brutal if these numbers are to be believed. With two limpers plus the blinds of $300/$600 the pot is $2100. Then Brian raises to $3300(3.5x BB +1BB for each limper), Patrik calls the extra $2500. Now there is $8100 in the pot on the flop. Brian bets 8k and Patrik cold calls. So there should be $24,100 in the pot on the turn, but the screen says the pot is $23,300 for a rake of $800!
Quite a bit more than the $0.50 they would have payed to play this hand online.
yeah most ppl see ... ( 4 days ago by superdave31)
yeah most ppl see this and think shocking but when its these 2 in a pot, its how they 'think'. guaranteed against pretty much any other player townsend would have cplayed this hand compeltely differently.
to summarise - patrick antonious would be capapble of playing a hand like this even with 2 ace off suit or something lol
