Hong Kong star Alan Tam and American legend Diana Ross were among the stars at the opening ceremony - held in the 15,000-seat Venetian Arena.
World-renowned Cirque du Soleil also created a special performance for the event -- in the run-up to having a permanent show here - in the 1800-seat Venetian Theatre.
With a price tag of 2.4 billion US dollars, the Italian Renaissance themed Venetian Macau is now the world's second largest building, with convention and exhibition halls, entertainment venues, indoor canals, shops, restaurants and a hotel with 3,000 all-suite guest rooms. Not to mention the 550,000 square-foot ground level casino floor, which itself is now the largest in the world, with 870 tables and over 3,400 slot machines...
The star-studded evening of entertainment -- is just the beginning of what Macau can expect in the years to come. Fellow tourists,
Beware some of the retail shops at Venetian, who will tell you their prices are duty free, when i clearly asked in english and chinese. Cheats!
Lacoste shop was one of them, the same shoe i bought there was MOP160 cheaper at Wong Kok!

Actually theres a lot to see in Macau, not just casinos but historical places that include in UNISCO world heritage site.The city is clean, nice food and friendly people. Go! and see for your self.

Vegas cant fit no more casinos? Haha, give me a break. That is why Citycenter is being built, why Caesars Palace is adding on, why Echelon Place is going up? Yeah, sounds like they can't fit no more casinos in Vegas, huh. But, anyways... I think "Mr Genius" over here completely missed my point. Macau is being built by Americans to MAKE MORE MONEY!!! Asia is a great market for casinos, and I totally get why they are doing it. I just find it funny that all this money is coming back to the US.

Your comment IS retarded considering that Las Vegas is also one of the ONLY places in the United States where it is legal to gamble. But, most of the hotel & resort owners are AMERICAN! You would think that Chinese investors would be flocking to Macau for this very reason... Because it the only place they can actually own a casino. You're right, gambling is illegal in Mainland China, so if you are a Chinese investor, what better of an investment than in Macau? But NO, that's not the case.

I'm not jealous or envious at all. I have absolutely no problem that the casino industry is booming in China. If I was an investor, I would probably be doing the same thing. I think you have completely missed my point. Now, what I don't understand is why most resorts in Macau are American owned. China has BILLIONS of people.. City Center is a waste of money. Caesars Palace is a joke. BYD is $5 and can't attract tourists. Real state in Vegas has dropped more than 50% in less 2 years. Vegas is pretty much empty. Yes! revenues from MGM, LVS, WYNN are back to the US's GNP but Macao chargers taxes from these casinos. It helps their economy a lot, both sides wins! By the way, Macao/China has already closed the doors for foreign casinos. MPEL has played a big part of it.
