| What an excellent series! I think I'm actually beginning to understand what Situationist International was talking about (in a mild sort of way). It sure didn't make any sense when I was reading about it. What do you think they would have made of those "reality" shows on TV, like "I Love New York?" |

| even the act of creating youtube content, or uploading a video on youtube, is somehow a form of passive spectatorship. as long as you are sitting at your computer, turned away from lived experience, there will be no "revolution of everyday life." the spectacle re-organized everything. i think that's why debord committed suicide in 1994. |

| debord was discussing form not content. it really didnt matter what the content was. if you want to get to know the situationists better i suggest reading lukacs and then familiarizing yrself with the more radical surrealists. |

| this is an awful program. i dont feel like it gathers insight into the what makes debord such a vibrant theorist. instead it only looks at its cultural (recuperated) impact. i honestly think that if one is to truly get at the root of debord it is important to consider him as an orthodox marxist theorist analyzing a new stage of capitalist accumulation and theorizing a new form of praxis in order to counter it. the art stuff matters little. |
