Video Description: I've always wanted an aircraft from the former East Germany.. and I love the early 50's and 60's type jets.. so the choice was obvious!

Yes, I think my four fav. Anthems (Sweden apart) is the GDR, USSR, France and the US, not neccesarily in that order.. :)

Anyway, thanks for liking my effort, I enjoyed the model.. I now have the Academy 1/48 MiG-21 bis to tackle at some point.. Not sure if to make the Russian or Hungarian version though, both looking good! Have ruled out the Indian MiG, as it's all over grey and too dull even for me.. :)

Great, where do you get the putty, i could use some myself, and is it me or does your introduction need a bit of editing its very jolty, but anyway, awesome model.

I bought mine at SBX in Ipswich! He does Postal- and internet orders as well, and it's all postage free.. :) The intro was made by a YT friend of mine, and he has lost the original now.. Don't know why it came out jolty, but I like it all the same.. :)

Revells kinda crap cuz i got the revell B-1B lancer and the plane body was just lying on in the box without secure bag with alot of flashing but the other stuff were ok
but the instruction are hard to read
Well, the trouble ... ( 3 months ago by BasicModelling)
Well, the trouble with model kits of today is that so many makes are re-boxed by other manufacturers. The latest Revell 1/72 Saab Draken is a prime example, being the Hasegawa kit originally, just a lot cheaper.. So you can't judge a model make by just one kit! :) This MiG-21 F 13 is one of the best on the market, if not THE best.. What scale is your Lancer, 1/72 or 1/48? As for flash, you get that a lot as the moulds get older, unfortunately.. :P

I don't know an awful lot about the Revell Lancer to be honest, and my friend who owns the modelshop in town is on holiday.. But I'll ask him when I see him next, it's possible it could be another make re-boxed by Revell! They also re-issue a lot of the old Matchbox kits, like the Supermarine Walrus.. which is not a bad kit.. :)

Mmm, the body looks superficially like a Super Sabre (have you built a model of one?).
What you did with the cotton bud was truly inspiring!
Again - nice final pictures, what is the building in the background?
Thank you! I have ... ( 2 months ago by BasicModelling)
Thank you! I have built a Sabre, albeit the F-86 Sabre of the Turkish Air Force, using the excellent Academy kit (recommended) and spare decals, but no Supersabre, as yet. I have a 1/72 Italeri kit though, with decals for a Danish Air Force plane included with the kit & most likley that will be the version built! I thought you'd like the way I did the filler THIS time, yes.. :) (See, I DO listen.. sometimes!)
As for the building ... ( 2 months ago by BasicModelling)
As for the building, it's a typical old style Soviet type Hangar commonplace in the old Soviet states and the satellite countriues, no doubt! I found it on the internet.. :)

Thank you.. I like to make the back drop as realistic as possible.. couldn't have African Bamboo huts as originally planned as I realised they were very sparse on former East German air bases... :) :) :) :)

Looking good as always. For just using simple tools you really impress me. You get the same finish using the easy stuff that I do using airbrushes, ect.. Btw that is actually a hasegawa kit that revell germany re-boxed. If you can find a revell germany Su-27 its the same kit as the hasegawa. It would be a cool addition and about half the price of the hasegawa. After my current stuff i have a suprise for you guys.. Im actually going to build a Eurofighter in respects of my European modelbrothern.
'Basic' modelling ... ( 2 months ago by Tuberglue)
'Basic' modelling is what I do. I already have the Revell Flanker B, and a nice kit it is too! It is in the 'medium priority' pile, which means it's up in the loft, but just by the hatch. All I have to do is get up the ladder and grab it, without actually having to go in the loft. My thought is the same as yours, it would look very good next to the MiG-21!! Didn't know the MiG was ex-Hasegawa though, it says Revell clearly on the fuselage side. I was told it was new tooling.. :)
I got my Draken ... ( 2 months ago by Tuberglue)
I got my Draken resin set yesterday, it looks VERY good.. Took some photos of Draken cock-pit interiors when I was home in Sweden a few months ago, they will come in handy now! My former Fighterwing has a very nice museum, with a Draken, Viggen, Tunnan.. and soon a Gripen too, the last fighter to fly from there operationally.. :P Thanks for the positive comment re. the model... :)
The new tooling is ... ( 2 months ago by StringfellowHawke71)
The new tooling is actually where revell stamps the reboxed hasegawa kits with their lable..lol.. The decal sheet is a dead give away its a gawa. Revell has never done alot of stencils for their kits where hasegawa gives all kinds of stencils and I swear your MiG looks exactely like mine (hase)down to the sprue shot.

Most excellent. So your new project can start? I saw your video of the Draken lastnight. Not a bad looking bird especially doing the Russians most famous manouver..lol.. Ive only seen pictures of the Grippen nice bird also.. I have the Airfix Viggen in 48 scale. Not a bad kit but it reminds me of the old Revell kits with the raised panel lines and bad fit.. Thank god for putty.. If the pos comment was for me youre welcome. Cant wait to see the Draken :)
You're probably ... ( 2 months ago by Tuberglue)
You're probably right.. it's just that on the 1/72 ex-Hasegawa Draken, Revell has NOT put their name on the kit.. it's only changed from 'Hasegawa' to 'Made in Japan', whereas the MiG-21 F-13 is clearly marked Revell with the year and everything, as seen at 3:05! They claim the copyright too, which I don't think they would, should it be a Hasegawa kit.. I'd love to see a sprueshot of your MiG to compare.. :)

I hope to start my new project fairly soon! Trouble is, every time I go up in the loft I see something else I want to do! Going through a very 'undecided' period right now.. :) My son built the Airfix 1/48 Viggen a few years back, it's not too bad a kit, and as far as I know the only 1/48 Viggen on the market.. It's a re-boxed ESCI kit, by the way, or so I have been told! I have seen some superb models made from that kit, with a bit of work (and a lot of resin, no doubt!) :)

Looking forward to seeing your 'Euro-freighter' if possible, when built!! They had one at Clacton Air Show this year, but unfortunately I missed BOTH days, as I was home with a very upset stomach! :(
