wtf are you talking about? its' more like 60/40 or 70/30 skill/luck.... if you never catch cards, and u're up against a player who catches minimum top pair or two pair, no way in HELL you're going to bluff them out of a hand.... Even PROFFESSIONAL poker players understand that luck plays a BIG factor in this game... they just all agree that skill plays MORE of a factor.

luck applies to what card you get. You can call it chance or probability if you dont believe in luck. But it give you an advantage. If you hold pocket Aces, or Kings.. what do you think you're going to do?

People need to realize Farha doesn't even have the 10th best possible hand here. It's just top pair king kicker. There's no reason why Scotty can't have a hand like say AQ. Scotty is tight and a former world champ, I doubt we'd all find it so easy to risk 60K calling Scotty there.

I say it's 70-80% luck and 20-30% skills. I mean cmon, no matter how much you're skilled at this game, if other guy keeps getting better cards than you for like 100 times, you can't do bluff your way out. I was in casino, I've sat in the seat for 86 hands, NO possible winning hand. i lost 10 bucks just through blinds($1 big and small blind). I can guarantee that I can beat Scotty Nguyen, Jerry Yang, etc if I keep getting better cards. Luck plays HUGE role in poker.

If you're ever a poker player, you would realize how people have the best hand during the flop but get killed by river. FOr example, I had 8 and 10, and flop had 7,9,J all different suits. I went all in with remaining 10 bucks i had(table is $20 buy-in table) some guy with J and Q diamonds calls. Fuckin Turn and River becomes 2 diamonds and lose to flush even when i had straight from beginning. Luck plays HUGE ROLE in poker.

.... You're assuming every time you get "better cards" you're hitting the nuts... or a hand that you can't let go of. Sure... if you hit the Nuts or the second nuts, or even 2 pair every hand, then there's really nothing anybody can do to you. But that's not how it goes.... You could have the best hand and be bluffed out, or THINK you have the best hand and be played. SKILL is where you make your money, and lose the least, OVER TIME.

You also have to understand everyone has outs from the flop unless they're drawing dead... your friend may still have been an idiot for calling (by the way you WANT that call more often than not) but he still has outs. Given, every "out" that he has, has to be running cards, but hey! He wasn't drawing dead.

True. Even though my winning rate is high and I win more than I lose, Luck still plays huge role. If you play by probabilities and not chase after stupid cards like most of people in casinos do, then you'll make a lot imo but i think poker is 80% luck and 20% skills. i mostly fold unless i get really strong hands.

Luck definitely exists in poker. You can't bluff every hand. Skill is the primary factor but without a little bit of luck, your fucked.

i agree. Luck play a major role in poker. You dont have the best hand until the river. So never go all in before you see the river. i had flopped straight so many times and got killed. Oh well, thats poker

Exactly. Luck plays huge role. I even calculated my situation with the straight. Other guy had 9% chance of winning.
Other time when I got really unlucky was when i had pocket 3s and flop was 2,2,3. The guy with 3 and 9 raises me all in, so i obviously call. turn AND river are both 9s, which is runner 9s. So I lost over that and got so angry, I stopped playing poker for a long time. He had 0.4% chance of winning against me at the flop.

I nearly quitted because it was fukin ridiculous. I mean, if he at least had 2 and another 2 came out on turn or river, then I'll just say that's poker. But runner 9s just means that poker hates my ass. When those runner 9s came out, I honestly felt like God hated me or something. So I quit poker for several months even though I won so much compared to how much I lost. I won over 600 but lost 40 bucks. I just assume that God's telling me to stop playing poker.
