I was 18 when I got obsessed with it, and was obsessed for about 10 years.
Don't worry until you are standing alone in a Delta cotton field playing a National with a homemade bottleneck while feeling transported to West Africa with passing cars are slowing down to stare at you funny.
Then it's time to get a head check.

It's hard sometimes ... ( 3 months ago by LittleBrotherBlues)
It's hard sometimes to get the right perspective when listening to guys like this who were actually the REAL deal and invented the art form compared to those who copied him and brought us modern pop music. It's musch harder to invent something and also harder when you were against the odds like so many black men were. Lived a hard life yet produced something great with the life they had. Fred rules... Ask some of the rock stars if they are better.. They will say NO.

the thing is that they alle didnt really try to invent something new, they just played the guitar... thats what is called to be autenthic. nowadays you really have to be excentric to create something real, cause we are all getting dumber and dumber in so many ways...... but ok, thats just my opinion

When you say they used their captor's instruments, well, many of instruments were their own, for instance, the guitar is from west Africa and so is the banjo. Remember, there was music for centuries in Africa- Long before the European came there.
