Javelin will work, but not 100%. Depends on which tank u use it.
T-90 is pretty much save from such missiles. Has 2 APS and ERA on top. Tanks without APS have only ERA, which might not be as effective. But western tanks dont even have ERA, so 1 shot = 1 kill on those. while on T-90 is like 10% chance thanks to countermeasures especially made for such things.

I agree and disagree with you. The chance of a Javlin rocket working against the T-90 would probably be closer to 50-50. The Russian ERA would probably work against more older rockets, but I"m sure the Javlin could punch through it the mijority of the time, at least knocking the tank out of service. But Western tanks are equipted with the Quick Kill APS which would distrupt most incoming rockets and grenades..but like the Russians..not 100% of the time. Just look at RPG-7s..simple yet effective.

NATO doesnt have APS in service. Israel is developing but not introducing. Russia has such APS since 1983 lol. Well the ERA works perfectly. It cant not work. It on the top of the tank for a reason you know.
Russians have APS AND ERA. This is why it cant be 50-50, its far less. NATO has nothing atm, so its close to 100% hit probability.

Can be used on mobile targets to a certain speed and it also has night vision, just like any other ATGM. Yet keep in mind that the range of the Javelin in top-attack mode is pretty low.

that t-72 was loaded with explosives (EXPLOSIVES, NOT TANK AMMO)...no way the missile is that powerful, its about 127mm not a 100lb device. Pretty effective for a missile that costs about $40,000 LOL, nice explosion though.

Even so the missile did it's job punching through it's armor like a hot knife through butter - a real field test would be similar in the fact that the tank would be loaded with not only HE shells but powder charges that would ignite on impact and fry the dumb fuckers in there to a crisp.

Wow that's an overstatement if I ever saw that, making a sweeping generalization that all western tanks don't have countermeasures for heat or electronically guided missiles - I know for a fact that U.S. Marine M1A1's have MCD's as well as chaffe dischargers (Instead of smoke). Not like Abrams needs it though it's armor is too thick.

So you think M1A1 can stand a top-attack missile eh? It cant, not without ERA or/and APS.
The M1 top is a few of steel, The Javelin penetrates around 10x as much.
Plus, the explosion is fake. Tanks cant blow up like that physically. Cordite cant produce enough power to completely destroy a tank.

I just said the Marine M1A1 has MCD's and chaffe dischargers... and I don't believe an Abrams would ever need to worry about a Javelin firing against it :) And yeah, a tank like that can blow up because it's a rolling time bomb. Do you know how many powder charges and warheads are loaded into a tank?! They'd all ignite and blow it up from the inside out.

Ye ok, not the Javelin, unless it hits the black market or gets exported. But there are other top-attack missiles too, Jav isnt the first or only one. The only way to get away from those is ERA, APS or EM jammers.
Ye i know how much cordite a tank has in it, its why i tell that blowing it apart is bullshit. Can blow the turret up in the air - yes. To destroy it completely you need something A LOT more powerful, like HE+gasoline. The explosion here is not a cordite explosion in the first place.

Actually found that the Javelin counters ERA - "The precursor charge sets off the ERA and clears it from the path of the main charge then the main charge penetrates the targets primary armor." So the tank is screwed even with ERA and if it has APS on top of that it could fail to intercept the missile altogether.

Yep it does have a tandem charge. Although later ERA developments involve additional ceramic plating to counter tandem charges. but ofc, top-attack fucks all tanks if it doesnt have APS. APS has around a 70-85% success rate, depending on missile speed. So you must agree that its much harder to kill a Russian T-80/90 tank than M1 or L2A6 or C2. Nothing is perfect an indestructible. But this vid is just a show off.

You dont need to kill M1.
You need just to make it stop, then its dead.
Even the weakest heat RPG can penetrate any tank at flanks.
After M1 stopped several more shots and the crew is dead.
