I think the bad things he presided over had a lot to do with this speech. He knew Prescott Bush very well. He may not have known about his Nazi connections, which really only came to light in 2003, but he must have had some serious misgivings about him and the proto-CIA bunch.

An excerpt of this ... ( 1 year ago by christineglamazon)
An excerpt of this speech opens Oliver Stone's JFK. According to the "Colonel X" character, "The organizing principle of any society is for war. The authority of the state over its people resides in its war powers."
Military suppliers profit off of war. The Gulf of Tonkin lie "justified" Vietnam and made a boatload of money. Even the Cold War racked up profits in nukes & delivery systems. Kennedy wanted to end the Cold War in his second term. And look what happened to him...

MacArther also warned JFK to avoid the quagmire of Vietnam. He had died about that same time. Great men were needed to win WWII.
When the war was over the politicians didn't want the any more.
MacArthur wasn't a ... ( 1 year ago by Taranau)
MacArthur wasn't a "politician soldier".like Ike or Marshall. He was more like Patton. And,he'd also been involved in Korea(where we were "entrenched" for far longer than in Vietnam)He knew Vietnam could easily be a long, drawn out affair that we might lose.WWII not only needed great men,to be won,but men who could see the lay of the land before getting there. We needed men like Patton and MacArthur around, before we got ourselves into this "War On Terror".

no doubt Zug, no doubt.. it's sad how people don't realize just how on spot Ike was.
That's when the country died - with JFK.. Ike's warning was manifested.

Military Industrial Complex then:
military+war= money for industry
Now:
military+war=money for industry= money for congressional and presidential elections= more wars.
When war becomes profitable we will see more of it.

Conflict is the ... ( 10 months ago by AKlover)
Conflict is the natural state of man, there will always be war and those who seek to gain from it. There are three basic types of people. Individuals, sheep, and those who exploit the sheep. As long as the sheep are the overwhelming majority mankind will never change.

"The Truth hurts"...That's why you get marked as a bad comment.Jesus spoke in allegories. The lion and the lamb he spoke of were two of the types of people you listed. The sheep don't like being called sheep, that's why they like heroes(individuals). It's easier to imagine you're the hero than admit you're one of the sheep.

This place is infested with Marxist/Socialist morons, so getting marked badly is pretty much expected. We need more Libertarians in this country who care about things other than pot smoking. The GOP has clearly abandoned Conservatives and Libertarians now.

Patton said we should have continued WWII and invaded Russia, it would have been intersting if FDR and Congress were listening to him. Too bad FDR was more worried about getting socialism entrenched here instead.
Libertarians are ... ( 8 months ago by Taranau)
Libertarians are closest to being Jeffersonian Democrats,in my eyes. And I believe that's where we need to head as a country.Too many of our fellow citizens, though, are blindly following the lead of the news media.Walter Cronkite used to end his news shows with "And that's the way it is" Too many people listen to what the news has to say and think that that's just the way it is.
Patton didn't see ... ( 8 months ago by Taranau)
Patton didn't see much difference between Hitler and Stalin. And historic hindsight is;that he was not wrong to think so.Stalin, and Mao in China, were both way worse than Hitler and his mob.Another historic hindsight,of mine at least,is that there were probably some who were relieved when Patton had his car accident.
When did it stop ... ( 4 months ago by sfldd)
When did it stop being a requirement for American presidents to actually know how to speak-and on issues? Listening to this is so depressing. Think about how low our standards for electing a president has gone down.

I completely agree. ... ( 4 months ago by bdweightexer)
I completely agree. But it's not only the case for presidents but for society in general at that time. If you could listen to an american Bishop, univ. president, all the way down the line you would hear the same difference. BRING CLASSICAL EDUCATION BACK! This is the most important differences between officers like Eisenhower were educated and ourselves. Far too many of todays leaders in USA today are little more than social parasites, they serve no social function for the common good.
I disagree with ... ( 3 months ago by oC6qB)
I disagree with that. I do not think that education is the main reason why people fail to face the needs of our time. I rather believe that our surroundings take a much bigger part in it. All this stupidity being spread throughout the nation and we begin feeding our childing with this stuff at a very early age...
This was different in "the old days" but would it be better to have those old days back? Of course not!!! We have to learn to deal with the fact that time has changed and face it.
The downward curve ... ( 3 months ago by Polyphemus08x)
The downward curve of American education correlates perfectly with the discovery of new knowledge that would facilitate the evolution of humankind.
We're being duped into stupidity, lust, fear laziness and complacency directly because the "authorities" know that enough information exists today to put an end to poverty and starvation and abolish warfare altogether forever.
Warfare has always been the most profitable business in human history. Research depopulation, eugenics, Mike Ruppert.
