what separates players is their skill and ability in maximising their profit from any one hand- whether by bluffing, slow-playing, over-agression, value-betting etc.

Come on, to win WSOP u must have plenty of luck. Just look at Jamie Gold and Chris Monemaker. Soooo many coinflip and "2 outers" they get.

People That defend poker are so ignorant. They Might think they are good at poker. But they will also get on tilt, Think of it as this, to gamble you must understand, no one will ever be the best, or be a "Pro". Because the odds are always going to be against any player. Its statstics. The 2 hands that are dealt might be "skill", but the flop is not a normal random variable. It is so scewed that any two cards can win. POKER IS PURE LUCK, thats why its called gambling. It is not 100% skill.

lol, it's not pure luck either. It's not pure skills but at the same time, it's not pure luck. It's more like 20% skills and 80% luck. This is why there are pros who make it to final table consistently and fat donks like moneymaker who get lucky during that year but can't win shit after 2003. Moneymaker is the reason why poker looks like a joke and gave poker a bad reputation, giving false hope and illusion that poker is easy/gambling.
