only players with complete mastery of fundamentals and bringing their games beyond star, superstar, or megastar can be that good at age 34. Legendary status only. the reason behind Shaq deteriorating so fast is part of it, not to mention big guys becoming crappy faster than smaller guys. Right now I bet Wade, Kobe, Lebron, and Iverson have the best chance of lasting that long.

The reason jordan was so good was because he WAS BETTER then everyone else. No one could match him. Today there is kobe, lebron, wade, melo, players like Gilbert arenas ETC.. He would be competing with these guys. Jordan wouldn't lead the league in points in today's game. There is way too much competition. MJ will no longer be known as the "bestplayer" pretty soon.

watch last Sunday's (11/16) game between Suns and Pistons. Shaq was ejected for getting the hand on the ball?? In MJ era, that would only be a 2 shot foul. If the defense is way better, why did we have over 5 teams averaged more than 105 ppg last season and scoring was up for most teams? In 95-96, the Bulls were the only team to average more than 105 ppg. The avg ppg was under 100. If players are better today, why hasn't KB shot over 46% for a season?

Today's players are shooting too many 3s because shooting 3s requires less skilled than posting up, driving, jump stopping on a dime and elevating, etc. Shooting 3s is a bail out for less skilled players hoping that the would catch fire and open the other part of the game, just like the bail out plan for the housing market for home buyers who bought homes out of greed just to make quick bucks when they had no money to invest in the first place.

same with height. The average player in the 1990's was 6'5". Now the average is 6'7".

Hmm.. First NEVER speculate! NO ONE really knows what Jordan would have done if he was playing in his PRIME today.
But let give you hint.. Jordan averaged over 20pts as a 40 year old guy. That was in 2002-2003, and thats not too far isn't it?
He even had a game of 50pts and bunch of 40pt games..
So please.. do think about this.
And lastly, the defense CHANGED primarily because MJ REVOLUTIONIZED this game.

those stats about height are false. all experts on the game will agree with bballmemories statements. Its only kobe fags like yourself who argue defenses are harder in todays era. the NBA rules committee is even on record saying their intentions with the rules. It doesnt take a genius to see how the rules benefit the offensive players. the rules and interpretation of rules are different and more offensively oriented. Defenses are handicaped more then ever.

agreed.. i always seen the 3 point line as a handicap for exatr point. fair enough its longer. but i dont see it being that hard if someone took a small time to handle it. if your slightly open it can easily go in.
in my park its one on one if you have something to prove and all 1 pointers. take ya outside shot.. with most players in our court the outside line shots aint even made because we play pretty hard.
