Actually I played this song over top of the original version (The New Seekers, 1971) and it is indeed virtually identital except for "It's the real thing" and "Coca-Cola" of course. I used to have the original record by the Coca-Cola company. Eve Graham as featured at the start of this video had the same (or similar) picture on the dust jacket of the 45. It was followed by a cover version by the Laurie Bower singers, then Dr. Music on the B side.

Hey, about :40 in this video, someone's holding a bottle of something. First bottle is clearly a Coca-Cola logo (a second earlier) , but what is THIS person drinking?
There seems to be only coarse tuning and it's hard to get a fix on it.

I saw the bottle you're talking about. It's a Coke bottle, but the words "Coca-Cola are printed in another language...Probably the person's native language, as the people in the ad are all from different countries.

It's weird that some people see only what they want to see. There were several Asians in that commercial. And how do you know none of them were Muslims? There's no specific phenotype for Muslims, who are not only Arabs, but Asians, Africans and Europeans and there are even Latin Muslims. Anyway,I remember this ad fondly. It was very idealistic and hopeful. Definitely a reflection of that time period.

I like the version that doesn't mention Coke or any other commercial products. Sadly, this was the original version, but there was a rendition of this song produced later that wasn't laden with commercial reference of any sort. I still manage to enjoy the later version despite the fact that I know its origins. It's probably because I heard it before I saw these commercials.
