See, the eighties started off very promisingly, but by the time we were halfway through that decade we were ankle-deep in shit. The Live Aid '85 debacle is proof of that, the Who would have OWNED that fucking concert if it hadn't been for a technical botch, as it was the highlight was the bloody awful Queen...not that the likes of Spandau Ballet and Ultravox and the other pretty boys offered much competition.

Feeling "better" after getting all that off your chest? The 80s wasn't that bad - I still think it was one of the better decades musically. Think harder about the music then and how it compares to now. It's not the music - it's how we feel in ourselves!

i remember having the boot l.p. version of this concert ('save the who') and wore it out. this was recorded when pete was apparently in a downward spiral of booze and coke. he looks extremely cool none the less and this was the best of the kenny jones period. he had toughened up his attack considerably. also great from this concert; wgfa, substitute, drowned and the best version of another tricky day i have ever heard. thanks for posting

Bit harsh Tom. If you had said that we were knee-deep in shit by 1988 I would agree entirely. The likes of Ultravox, Spandau and to a lesser extent Queen defined the 80's glory years for me, which were 1980-87. Whilst not a Queen fan, they turned in possibly the best concert ever in Wembley 1986 - period. By 1989, thanks to SAW, Kylie and Jason had me wishing I was firmly back in 1982. 88' and '89 is the dross I believe you are referring to.
