The Postman is the 1997 film adaptation of an award-winning post-apocalyptic themed novel of the same name, written in 1985 by author David Brin. It was shot in northeastern Washington (Metaline Falls) and central Oregon, and was directed by Kevin Costner. It starred Costner, Will Patton, Larenz Tate, Olivia Williams, James Russo, Daniel Von Bargen, Tom Petty, Scott Bairstow, and Roberta Maxwell.

A very underrated film. Fair enough it can be a bit cheesy in some places but overall this is one of the better post-apocalyptic movies.

This movie is absolutely amazing, and it's a shame that it got such terrible reviews. The fact that it came out shortly after Waterworld and conatined similar themes only made people jump on the bandwagon and call this movie terrible. Waterworld in itself really wasn't as bad as it was criticized for being, but when looked at on it's own merit, and not as "Waterworld 2", this movie can be very enjoyable.

I assume you mean 2:38 since the clip is only 3:38. And yes, it's the theme from the movie "Gettysburg." Unfortunately, it's a disgrace that they use it to promote this film which in no way comes close to the masterpiece "Gettysburg!"

Or is that maybe the point? You as a kid made some pocket change delivering news of current events that could be from all over the world to a population with near universal literacy who CARED. People whose ancestors were poor peasants ignorant of what lay on the far side of the hill.
Kinda a "don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got til it's gone" thing, ya know?
