Just to jump in here...the military are like pirates, they use the munitions to conduct modern day conquest to take over land and vast resources using very good propaganda to make even wise people like us overlook the horrific crimes they're getting away with on a massive scale.
The Taliban were armed by the Western nations in a "divide and conquer" tactic - we're so crafty it's sick and shameless.
Also i believe the Taliban may have a more venerable mission, most likely freedom fighting.

Of course i care about those terrorized by the militia's but do you care about those terrorized by the coaltion airstrikes and the suffering caused by Western sanctions?
Which side does more damage to the civilians and the economy and which invokes more fear?
The coalition have much more firepower and a lot more potential to kill civilians than any number of militia.
Removing the Western forces AND the sanctions would give them more than hope - it would give them a chance of a decent life.

This makes me miss my days in the regulars, and sorely tempts me to cross the pond and join the British army; I would if not for the lower pay and the SUSAT rifle sight (I don't like it--eye relief is too close).
It's a pity that the Canadian army doesn't have adverts like this; most are quite stale.
It truly saddens me to be out of the regulars, and back in university, surrounded by despicable, self-centred, degenerate students. Not all, mind, but the people are lower calibre at uni.
