same with me! except i always heard the beatles on the radio and liked it alot but i didn't know it was the beatles until i asked my dad when i was 13, and after that i was a beatlemaniac, and still am one lol and yes this is such a great instrument, i wish i had one :[

What's especially cool about this is just seeing an amazing musician like George Harrison being humble enough to allow himself to be filmed when he was still struggling to learn this instrument. Reminds us that everyone was a beginner once, at something or other.

Yes. There is a great deal of discipline to learning it. Perhaps that is a facet of the spiritual nature of sitar; the self-denial. The harder a thing is to do, the greater the accomplishment. You will succeed!

regardless, find a teacher at some point. there are many sitar teachers hidden around the world, just look for centers teaching east indian classical music and they should point you in the right direction.
