I accedently got my finger caught between the wire and the rod before and it took out a hunk of skin 1/4 inch diamater it grew back but where it took out the skin and i had on welding gloves too I have less feeling in that area. so i made a hand crank system and it works just as good

ouch! yeah you got to be careful. machines are very unforgiving. when in doubt go slow. this is one reason why i suggest a variable speed drill. It will allow to slowly accelerate the drill. Not to say this would have prevented your accident, but it might help prevent others.

ya i didnt know but there was a kink in the wire and when it hit my hand I couldent let go fast enough before it sucked my hand in and actually pulled me onto the bench halfway but amazingly i didnt break my finger

i recently went to lowes and bought galvanized 17 gauge steel wire and a hand crank drill. i used a 1/2" wooden dowel and made a few coils of metal and cut them. it seems to be working nicely

I'd suggest getting a metal dowel rod if you can. The wooden one will end up compressing and you'll have rings gradually get smaller. A metal one you can reuse almost indefinitely.

Its basically the same as this except you use PVC piping instead. Although the 4 in 1 doesn't work with the pipes that I use, and the rings are much harder to put back together because they have to be glued...

nope not threaded, i do however grind three spots on one end of the rod the have the drill chuck get a better bite on the rod
