I agree with the respect part of what marrukkie said... and I think it's because Jamie Gold is over his head playing this high-stake cash game, he just isn't used to it (he said so himself). And after all, not all tournament players play well in cash games - at least when the blinds have gone up, in tournaments the play evolves around preflop play where as this game is more about post-flop play and outplaying your opponents.

Pretty simple, actually: because it's on TV. It's also regarded as one of, if not the best poker show on TV. I agree it'd be fairly pointless to sit at this table on a regular day. But they realize the exposure brings added value.
