how long do you think the return is on these investment homes? the original arguement was that this guy could have done a better job with his original amount. by investing it into realestate. by what you were saying. i said that nothing he would have done could have made him that much cash in such a short time and a nothing would have given him a better story to tell. something like that.

I think the problem ... ( 1 week ago by Waychel)
I think the problem is that you're making a lot of assumptions about real estate investment based on a limited understanding of it (IE what people did to "get rich quick" during the housing boom). I never said anything about buying individual homes to flip them quickly. I said that $136,000 in cash and on hand is not something that most people have who are looking to invest in real estate just the same.
You're asking me ... ( 1 week ago by Waychel)
You're asking me arbitrary questions like "how long" it would take to make money through proper investment practices, and repeatedly bringing up how this guy made $100,000 cash in such a "short time." This kind of "get rich quick" attitude is what both limits people's thinking and and ruins them financially. This guy could have just as "quickly" lost everything in a single roulette spin, and it is unfortunate that gambling was the "best" investment potential he saw with that kind of money.
this guy knew the ... ( 1 week ago by teabagger702)
this guy knew the risk. he made the decision to sell everything and most likely said, "win it all or lose it all, either way ill find out quick." He could have invested his money into other things, like property. but it would have been a longer wait to see if he made money or lost it. its still a gamble. right?

Balls of Steel. I still reckon he was well covered by the TV show and stoty rights that followed him for the weeks up to this. Good Entrepreneur move if u ask me. There was a chance he would lose but i guarantee that papers, magazinges, TVs etc would have paid to hear his story if he had lost.

assumptions?? the real estate market is bust. the US economy has gone to hell. you still want this guy in invest into a falling economy? this guy did the right thing. took a gmable and won, just like any other investment gamble. investing is another word for gambling. so dont sugar coat it.

All economies have ... ( 2 days ago by Waychel)
All economies have their ups and downs, including the US economy. When you ask the rhetorical question of whether this guy should invest into a falling economy or not, you're taking the defeatist attitude that our economy will never recover, which is simply not true. I don't know if I would call investment another word for gambling either, but assuming I were, what would be the odds? We make our own odds when we choose our investment, and they are a hell of a lot better than 50/50.
Another fallacy ... ( 2 days ago by Waychel)
Another fallacy here: what was his "gamble", and what was his "investment"? In this case what he "invested" in was cash, or the US dollar and US economy backing that dollar. The value of our dollar fell dramatically the following year, as you just pointed out. Was the meager return in his cash "investment" really worth the sacrifice he made in equity and other material assets? I would be very reserved about saying he made the "right" choice -- it definitely wasn't the educated one.
but durring this ... ( 2 days ago by teabagger702)
but durring this time in the states, im sure he had better odds on the roulette gamble.
i would not go as ... ( 2 days ago by teabagger702)
i would not go as far as to say it was "a meager" return. yes the US dollar fell ,but at least he has that cash inhand and can do other things with it. if it was tied up in an investment, he'd be starving, right.about.now. just because you felt that his choice was not what you would have done, does not make it an uneducated choice. making a "right" choice and the "educated" choice does not have to agree with each other. science vs religon/faith, but thats a different subject.
from the time he ... ( 2 days ago by teabagger702)
from the time he made the bet till now, the US has been in a falling state. i really cant see the investment growth he would have had in the real estate market. If the US covers, i dont see that happening within the next two years. minimum. Oh, the odds on a roulette table is not 50/50. there are two greens (0/00) i forgot what the odds are. from the way the economy is now, im sure the odds from the table are not that bad. where else can you double ur investment and cash out in such short time?
you guys are here ... ( 1 day ago by ViLLaNzKrEw)
